Curriculum and Learning Technologies (CLT) is a newly formed department within “Learning Enhancement” designed to provide service and support to Calgary Board of Education staff to meet the outcomes of the CBE Three Year Education Plan and System ENDS.

Professional Learning

We personalize and facilitate professional learning throughout the organization to address the needs of each learner. We do this by meeting and exceeding expectations and requirements within the Alberta Program of Studies through the use and development of distributed learning environments, tools, and new ways of working with learning technologies and the work of the “Learning Lab of the Future” CBe-learn.

Innovative Learning

CLT supports and leads models of best practice and innovation in 21st century learning by:

  • working each day with educators within their specific context to address identified learner needs
  • supporting and leading inquiry, project based learning practices and projects that place student work at the centre of learning
  • extending contexts, support, and opportunities for learning both in and out of schools, including global contexts
  • designing and supporting local curriculum specific to identified outcomes
  • working with educators to broaden and deepen strategies for learner assessment as it pertains to the Alberta Program of Studies
  • working collaboratively with agencies and communities to meet specific outcomes
  • supporting on-going external and internal research aligned to the 3 Year Education Plan
  • extending and enhancing learning resources to address issues of equity and access for each CBE learner

World Class Learning

CLT assists in positioning the CBE as a world leader in learning by:

  • supporting leadership models and development
  • championing and supporting learning initiatives within provincial, national, and international communities
  • aligning and partnering strategically with external communities to expand and enhance learning opportunities for CBE staff and students
  • publishing and promoting research driven innovation in learning
