Assistive Technology Community

The Assistive Technology Community is composed of interested individuals, teachers in Special Needs settings and the regular classroom. The goal is to bring together interested individuals who share information and expertise and contribute to creating awareness and support for Assistive Technology within the Calgary Board of Education.

The Assistive Technology Community meets on a monthly basis, hosts Assistive Technology workshops and an Assistive Technology Conference. Last year over 200 Calgary Board of Education teachers, educational assistants and administrators attended the 2 day workshop which allowed participants to choose from over twenty sessions a day, as well as displays featuring Assistive Technology products, print resources, a student gallery and an exploration centre. Many of the sessions were hosted by Assistive Technology Community members, who were encouraged to share their use of Assistive Technologies in supporting learning for all students in their classrooms. This year the Conference will be a two day event held on May 21-22, 2008.
