LeapFrog Pilot

Students of all ages have different abilities and learning needs. Inclusive Learning Technologies helps to enable students to access curriculum and learn at their own pace.

Curriculum and Learning Technologies (CLT) has undertaken a project to investigate the impact of assistive technologies on the early childhood learner. The study will examine the use of highly interactive and engaging technologies on teacher practice and learner success for students in kindergarten, grades 1 to 3 as well as complex learners with severe behavioural and emotional concerns.

The goals and objectives of this project are:

  • To determine the impact on student literacy skills using leapfrog equipment
  • To determine the teacher's ability to incorporate Inclusive Learning Technologies specifically targeted for younger learners
  • To assess the impact of the leapfrog products on younger learners in addressing the diverse learning needs of students within the cut report of education.

The technologies that are being used are LeapPad, an interactive book-based system, LeapMat, a large interactive pad to aid students in letter recognition and sound, and LeapDesk, which works with letters and numbers and words.
