LeapFrog Pilot
This initiative investigated the impact of technology-based educational products on the Early Childhood Learner. The study examined the use of several highly interactive and engaging technologies for students in kindergarten, grades 1 to 3 as well as complex learners with severe behavioral and emotional needs. It also investigated the impact these educational products had on teacher practice.
Goals and objectives of the project:
- To determine the impact on student literacy skills using leapfrog educational products
- To determine the teacher's ability to incorporate technology-based educational products specifically targeted for younger learners into classroom practice
- To assess the impact of LeapFrog products on younger learners in addressing diverse learning needs
Educational technologies that were deployed to classrooms included: LeapPad, an interactive book-based system, LeapMat, a large interactive pad to aid students in letter recognition and learn letter sounds, and LeapDesk which enhances letter, number and word recognition.
