A Checklist for Planning in English Language Arts (.pdf)
There is no one template that is mandatory for planning. Short range plans should contain the following critically important components:
- Specific Outcomes
- Essential Questions or Enduring Understandings
- Final Assessment (with rubrics, student checklists, exemplars)
- Instructional Procedures (activating prior knowledge, opportunities to build background knowledge, practice and develop skills and strategies)
- Resources
- Timeline
- Differentiation Notes
- ICT Outcomes
- Connections to Other Subjects or Employability Skills (optional)
