Where can you effectively find digital resources which are useful to you and relevant to your teaching? Digital resources are categorized and stored just as books, journals, and magazines are in a library. On this page you will find links to digital resources found on the CBE network and elsewhere.

CBE Digital Resources

  • CBE Learning Object Repository
  • The CBE Learning Object Repository (LOR) is available to all CBE staff from within the Desire2Learn. The LOR is a searchable database of CBE-created or licensed learning resources that can be freely used by CBE staff with their students or for professional learning purposes. Please see the following tutorials in D2L for information about how to use the LOR.

  • CBE Libraries
  • The CBE Libraries site is a collection of CBE-approved websites for CBE students, parents and staff. Each of the three libraries is tailored to the needs of either elementary, middle/junior high or high schools. All three libraries can be accessed at:

  • Other CBE Digital Resources
  • The Calgary Board of Education has a number of spaces where staff and students can find other digital learning resources. These include the Research & Learning Commons, WebCat (our online library catalogue), the Video Loan Pool and the Staff Intranet. For more information about these spaces please visit the Resources page on the CBE corporate website.

    Alberta Video Co-Acquisition Consortium (COAC) is a formal partnership of some Alberta school districts (including CBE), regions, learning resource centers, regional resource centres and Alberta Education. This partnership purchases provincial licenses for educational videos. CBE teachers may borrow or purchase COAC DVD's from the Video Loan Pool or they may access streamed video through the COAC website

     

    Alberta Education Digital Resources

    Alberta Education Programs of Study Alberta’s Early Childhood Services (ECS) to Grade 12 curriculum is outlined in provincial programs of study, which identify what students are expected to learn and do in all subjects and grades.

    Tools4Teachers consists of authorized distance learning resources and digital learning objects that Alberta Educators can use to assist them in the development of their own print and digital lessons.

    LearnAlberta.ca provides K-12 resources for Albertans (Access is automatic from any CBE building. Contact your school library for the current username/password to use from home.)

    Alberta Education’s Online Reference Centre (ORC) is a collection of online databases and encyclopedias to assist Albertan students. (Access is automatic from any CBE building. Contact your school library for the current username/password to use from home.)

    The Internet hosts a plethora of digital learning resources. There are many different ways of using these resources. Some websites allow you to download resources and customize them for your learning environment. Others limit you to linking to their resources.
