One to One Teacher Laptop Program
The one to one teacher laptop program was developed to assist teachers in meeting the increasingly diverse needs of 21st Century learners. Previous CBE research projects such as the IOP Laptop Project and the ongoing University Elementary Laptop project, focused on one to one mobile computing for students and teachers; however, this initiative's intention is to provide all CBE classroom teachers with laptops.
Teacher access to personal computers is a key strategy to enhance pedagogical practice directed at individualizing and personalizing instruction and assessment for students. Connections can also be drawn to enhanced, professional learning for all teachers.
This initiative has been developed within the context of the Calgary Board of Education's “Ends” and involves representation from CBE Curriculum and Learning Technologies, CBE Information Technologies, CBE schools, Apple Canada, Microsoft Canada, PC Corp, Alberta Education, and the University of Calgary.
If you are involved in the Teacher One to One project and would like some professional development opportunities for your school, please contact the Curriculum and Learning Technologies Specialist for more information.
