Professional Learning & Resources

Professional Learning

Embedding professional learning activities and programs into the everyday work of educators and staff is emerging as a key CBE strategy to address ongoing curricular and technology developments and successful student learning. The linkages between successful student learning and engaged, successful professional practices are being mapped and directed throughout the CBE.

Clearly, technology-enhanced environments, supported with professional learning opportunities for teachers and support staff, will assist staff in moving toward more engaging strategies for teaching and learning. To this end, the professional learning startegies for this project will focus on meeting the outcomes of each school's individual School Development Plan.

It is clear that the importance of professional development cannot be overemphasized. The CBE will increase access to learning opportunities for staff and students within the board and with this increased access to technology and sufficient professional learning opportunities it is believed that teachers will be better able to adapt their teaching strategies to the different learning styles of their students.

Teachers will have the ability to:

  • access interactive educational resources
  • develop new learning communities for students and colleagues where information can be shared and acquire new knowledge
  • enhance and expand assessment and evaluative measures of student learning
  • identify best practices and improvements for student learning
