about SMART™ warranty

SMART™ Interactive Whiteboards are registered under warranty at the time of purchase. Boards have a 5 year warranty, projectors have a 3 year warranty, and lamps have a 90 day or 500 hour warranty (whichever comes first).

New installations are covered under a 90 day bumper to bumper warranty once the installation is complete and signed off by the vendor.

RMA (Return to Manufacture)


RMA (Return to Manufacture) is SMART Technologies product return process. For example, if the sensor of a SMART Board pen tray stops working, and cannot be resolved through troubleshooting, a new pen tray would be sent for free, under warranty, to the school.

This process also applies to projectors. In the event replacing a projector lamp or attempting other troubleshooting steps does not resolve a projector problem, the projector could also go through the RMA process.

Please contact your School Technology Support Specialist to assist before completing the RMA process.

  • How to complete the RMA Process
    • Please first contact your School Technology Support Specialist or the CBE Helpdesk to have a HEAT ticket created. A school or central based resource will be able to assist in this process and ensure that any troubleshooting is first completed and facilitate the process with SMART.
    • Call SMART™ Projector Support @ 1.403.245.0333
    • Have serial number ready
    • Provide your basic information
    • Explain the situation and what has been done to resolve
    • If SMART cannot provide a solution or something else to try to attempt to resolve, RMA process would then begin
    • SMART will ship out a replacement part to the school free under warranty. If a projector is being replaced, it is important to note that you are responsible to return the defective model within 10 business days
