"What Did You Learn In School Today Around the World?" webinar

In 2006, the Canadian Education Association (CEA) adopted a focus on adolescent learners as its core priority As a result of this focus the initiative, What did you do in school today? was developed that examined the learning experiences of students across Canada. Transforming schools to improve student engagement and curriculum design is at the heart of the learning that stemmed from this initiative. "From CEA's standpoint, the process of transforming schools to improve learning will require a significant shift in our current designs for learning, the beliefs we hold about the purpose of schooling, and the knowledge we draw on to understand adolescent learning and development (CEA, 2006)."

Join colleagues from around the province, nation and world as they describe how they are personalizing education and engaging students through the use of available technologies.

"Tradigital Approach to Education" webinar

What is at the root of student engagement and how do we leverage technology in this process of engaging students in learning? It is vitally important that schools develop innovative, engaging curriculum to better prepare learners for the world they will face when they graduate. How can we, as educators, meet the needs of all learners and especially the at-risk learners? The development of approaches to re-engage the "lost" learner should be at the forefront of educational reform. As Kevin Honeycutt sums it up, "I travel the country speaking at conferences and working with educators at the grassroots level and I like to promote a "tradigital"* approach to education, which is a balance between past, present and future as we move education forward. Visit Kevin's blog on more information about the "tradigital" approach to education.

Join us as Kevin explains, explores and celebrates student engagement. In Kevin's word s, "I want to help every educator inspire every student to discover what it is that they are so passionate about that they become remarkable at it."

"Personalizing through UDL" webinar

The goal of education in the 21st century is not simply the mastery of content knowledge or use of new technologies. It is the mastery of the learning process. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) helps educators meet this goal by providing a framework for understanding how to create curricula http://www.udlcenter.org/aboutudl/udlcurriculum that meets the needs of all learners from the start.

"Connecting Your Classroom to the Future: Predictions and Predicaments" webinar

The ever evolving world of technology has provided many opportunities for students to learn in different ways. However, educators need to ensure that these tools are embedded meaningfully as they design curriculum in order to capitalize on the benefits that technology can bring to the learning process and improvement to student engagement. Furthermore, as classrooms and schools become more connected to digital environments, what strategies need to be in place to ensure the safety of our students as well as our networks? Kathy Schrock will help us to examine technological predictions and predicaments that have informed the direction of current instruction, and ponder a few questions about teaching for the future.

Join us in welcoming Kathy Schrock who has been an avid user of the internet since 1993 and a strong advocate of technology and education. Visit her website at http://school.discoveryeducation.com/schrockguide/
