Professional Learning Webinar Series

Connecting in a Connected World

Join us in our webinar series as we explore educational technologies that allow teachers and students to interact in virtual environments. These tools provide opportunities for teachers to extend learning beyond the traditional classroom walls by personalizing learning as students position themselves as learners in the global community.

Come and explore these educational tools with us:

Easy ePub for the Classroom

Would you like to create publications for your students to access on mobile devices? EPub is a digital format that allows teachers to create their own digital ebook for iOS mobile devices such as iPads, iPhones and iPod Touches. Teachers can bring their publications to life with the addition of videos and audio files. These digital ebooks can then be published to iBook which features a dictionary and annotation tools such as bookmarking, highlighting and notes. Join Elizabeth Duke and Julie Ramsay in an exploration of ePub and the iBook app for iOS mobile devices.

Repeat: Social Bookmarking in the Classroom

Social bookmarking tools provide teachers with opportunities to facilitate learning for students by allowing users to store, organize, manage, share and search for bookmarks of resources online. Social bookmarking tools have the ability to simplify how we distribute reference lists, bibliographies and other resources, however, it is the "tagging" of information that has the potential to change how we store and find information. Join Elizabeth Duke and Julie Ramsay as we explore how Diigo, a social web-based bookmarking tool, can support learning... anytime, anywhere.
