Since 1998 CBE parents and students are choosing the Chinese Bilingual program with 50% of instructional time in Chinese and 50% in English. K-6 is located at King George School, a dual-track Chinese Bilingual and French Immersion School; and 7-9 at Langevin Junior High. See the ‘Embrace the World zhong wen’ brochure for more details.

The second language program, Chinese Language and Culture is available at Langevin Junior High, Crescent Heights High School and Sir Winston Churchill High School. Senior students also have access to Chinese challenge exams at the senior high level.

Chinese language teachers and students benefit from resources, professional development and scholarship opportunities through the support of our Chinese Language Advisor and HANBAN (Chinese Ministry of Education). Elementary, junior high and senior high students will now have access to internationally recognized language credentialing tests, the HSK and the Chinese Youth Test, at the University of Calgary.
