Since 2001 many CBE parents and students are choosing the Spanish Bilingual program with 50% of instructional time in Spanish and 50% in English at the elementary level. The program is expanding by one grade level each year up to grade 12. See the ‘Embrace the World en español’ brochure for more details.
All of the Spanish Bilingual schools in the CBE participate in the International Spanish Academy (ISA) network, which offers numerous supports to our programs and makes students eligible for Spanish language credentials from the Spanish Ministry of Education at the end of Grade 6 and Grade 12.
The second language program, Spanish Language and Culture is available in most CBE high schools, some junior highs, as well as a number of elementary schools. See the listing of schools currently offering Spanish courses.
